  8. How this album has escaped my attention for forty years I don't know, but having discovered it and the other album recorded at the same time (Changes One) I am "gobsmacked". These two albums are very different from Mingus' music fifteen years earlier (e.g. "Ah Um" or "Charles Mingus presents Charles Mingus"), in some ways at first hearing /5(4).
  9. Background. At this time Mingus was working regularly with a piano-less quartet featuring Eric Dolphy, Ted Curson and Dannie Richmond, as heard on the Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus album also recorded in October The Mingus album features one track, "Stormy Weather", recorded by the same quartet, plus two tracks recorded by a larger group featuring piano and additional horns.
